1964 Wine basket press

We revisited one of our favourite winery’s ‘Mr Barbel’ in Margaret River.
The owner Kelly took us on an exclusive tour of their cellaring process.
The gentle squishing of the grapes between these basket mats in the press protects the grape juice from harsh tannins that can come from the seeds and stalks if ruptured. So a gentle release of the skins from the pulp is achieved and voila fast forward ,we enjoyed the end result with a cheese platter.
