On tae plums
Not on this occasion the Glaswegian expression "yur oan tae plums" (a rather more severe form of the Edinburgh: "you'll have had your tea"), but rather just a comment that after recent blips of magnolia, skimmia, fritillaria, camellia and dandelion, this is one of the blossom bursting from the two plum trees that grow out from the base of our kitchen walls. They are an old and haggard pair, oft pruned, that produce two different varieties. This one generally does better than the other but neither is prolific. We get perhaps 10 - 12 jam jars and a few puddings from them on a decent year and sometimes just a few puddings! This year the blossom looks promising but we'll just have to wait until August before we find out if it's a good one.
Taken early on an overcast morning - forecast is for rain later.
