Hoover Dam

To celebrate Emma's birthday today we went on a 'Black Canyon River rafting tour'. This tour featured special permits which allowed us access to the secure area at the base of the Hoover dam. The view was amazing.

We then spent the next few hours on a raft along the Colorado River to Willow Beach marina. We were lucky enough to see some hot springs and some Bighorn sheep, which are Nevada's official state animal.

The construction of the Hoover Dam bypass bridge started in 2005 and they hope to finish in 2010. The bridge will connect the Nevada and Arizona highways.
