Cheese Based Appetisers & Greek Salads

The boys were heading to the local water park this afternoon so Mr Kit and I decided to have an afternoon in Corfu old town by ourselves.

We started at the Paleo Frourio (old fort). It was interesting as a climb to the lighthouse at the top afforded this splendid view of Corfu old town against the new cruise ships.

Wandering around the town we came upon the Patounis soap shop/factory. The workers had all finished for the day but he still let us have a look around, it was hot and stuffy without great big vats of hot soap, I can’t imagine what it must be like to work there in the heat of summer.

By the time we got back to the villa, the boys were back and we headed to the local village taverna. It was lovely and Anna, who ran it turned out to be the aunt of Costas and Peter who own the villa we are staying in. Unfortunately here, as we are finding quite regularly, there was not much choice for vegetarians, but Eldest and Sushi managed to fill up on a selection of cheese based appetisers and Greek salads.
