Bowie

We had a bit of fun at work this morning when one of my favourite dogs arrived.
Bowie is a Search and Rescue scent trailing dog and is often called on to find missing people - today the receptionist wanted to take a photo of me with one of my patients to celebrate my 50 years in the practice so it was good that Bowie had an appointment. Here he is in the waiting room with me but as I don’t really like appearing in photos I have cropped myself out for the blip ! 
His owner was delighted and rushed off to get his special work coat from her car - he is well sponsored including by the practice. His ability to follow scents is amazing and he gets a lot of ongoing training - just a few seconds sniffing an item of clothing etc belonging to someone and he can trail them for miles often in mountainous terrain.
