Solidor

Today the hippodrome was closed for a race, so we took the fluffy terror for a walk to Château de la Briantais, which is a public park on the edge of town. We can walk him on some land on the outside off the lead, but in the park he's on the lead only which isn't so much fun for sniffing in the undergrowth.


The house is quite modern replacing an older house. The gardens are laid out in the English style, and though the trees have grown over the decades, has a deliberate cut between the woods giving this view of the Solidor Tower from the house.


The current house was passed to the Catholic Church for a number of years and then to the town. Sadly the building is now in a very sorry state of repair following decades of underinvestment. The mayor is currently trying to give the building to developers to turn into a luxury hotel - though I hope the plans will be blocked... To many town assets have been given or sold way below their market value of late...
