Last Night of the Proms

It was Last Night of the Proms at the Minack Theatre tonight…what a wonderful experience. I’ve always wanted to go to the Minack and it was great when Sue said she had managed to get tickets. We were worried that it might have been cancelled, but thankfully it still went ahead. We had a minute silence, along with the rest of the country, at 8pm. All you could hear was the lapping of the waves below us. The sky became inky black and it was only the lights on a tanker on the horizon that indicated the meeting of sky and sea. It was strange to start the event with the national anthem and sing God save the King. The evening was amazing. The musicians were great, the conductor was brilliant, the weather was gorgeous and the fireworks just topped the evening off perfectly.

We had started the day for breakfast with Sue’s cousin, Bev and her husband and dad in the cafe at Geevor Tin Mine. Then we had a walk down to Boat Cove before going for a swim off the slipway at Cape Cornwall. That’s Sue’s third wild swim, she’s going to get hooked if this continues lol.

We had time for an exceedingly delicious cream tea at the Rock Cafe before heading to the Minack with Bev.

What an utterly brilliant day!
