Postal Impressions
Today, I’m reviewing a recently completed series of art postcards. And wondering where next.
I have a notebook full of promising ideas for new designs, but starting on another series is a significant commitment. Creating them should be fun, and the end results worth the effort. So I’m taking time out before throwing myself back into it.
Back when I first started making cards in the early ‘80s, there were limitations — both in what could be found for collage, and in what a Xerox photocopier could do. Still, people sent postcards back then and alternative postcards were all the rage.
Now, with the Internet and Photoshop, anything is possible. However, while some people like the retro appeal of sending a postcard, sending an email or a text is quicker and more convenient. Even if it doesn’t mean as much to the recipient.
