Avondale College school show
For more than 30 years Avondale College has been part of our lives. First born (son) went to Avondale in what was then the third form, and is now year 9. Before he finished school and went to university, elder daughter (C) began followed a couple of years later by daughter J. After she left secondary school for Architecture School, there was a short gap before C returned as a History Teacher. She is now head of History. Her sons have followed the family 'path'. Mr H completed his schooling there, and Young L is in Year 10.
Like his mother Young L enjoys singing, dancing and acting. C was one of the leads in the annual school show, and we still remember her performance in The Threepenny Opera. Because of some sort of copyright, the school cannot afford the cost of putting on an actual musical play. So this year (after last year there being no school show due to Covid lockdown), the School Show was a series of song and dance items from different musicals, without any storyline.
Young L is part of the chorus. S and I went to the first performance this afternoon. The matinee is a final run through before the first 'proper' performance tonight. The audience consists of pupils from the nearby intermediate school, and some residents from nearby rest homes for the elderly. And they made a special case for us; partly because of how much the family has had to do with the school, and partly because C said her poor old father gets tired early as I am still recovering from my recent injuries.
It was a great show. Young L was of course the centre of (our) attention much of the time.
My photo is of an 'installation' in the foyer.
