Plan Névé Hut …

Just watched the Queen’s last journey, a remarkable shared historical day for many. I hope her family can now grieve in peace. Added tonight’s sunset for her journey.

One of the few huts that sit with a view all the way down to the Rhône Valley and even Lake Geneva. I don’t know if you can see, OUFF! written in large red letters behind Josiane. It says it all really, a relentless 1040m ascent and this morning and it was freezing, almost totally in shadow with the “bise”, the north wind, blowing just enough to wish you had brought thicker gloves and a hat. Hot soup was very welcome and we had a lot of sunshine on the descent. We had to leave the path while a herd of 50 or 60 cows passed us with some new born babies (extra). Cows can be quite violent if they have very young calves and there were 10 calves which did not have their “earrings” so they were born last night or this morning. Some were still lying down recovering from the birth while their mums tried to get them on their feet.

Many thanks for the positive comments etc. for yesterday’s Lac Cheserys reflections of the Mont Blanc Range, it is without doubt, one of my favourite walk despite all the people!
