2822. Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We took a long trip to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina today to see the old town of Mostar including the re-constructed bridge at Mostar, destroyed during the civil war.
The old town was delightful and we stopped at a place with waterfalls on the way back to Dubrovnik. It was a busy, tiring but wonderful day.
We aren’t meeting our friends in Dubrovnik tomorrow as they’re doing an all day tour instead which is a pity but can’t be helped.
Tomorrow is our last day before we head home early on Wednesday and we had intended to go back into the Old Town in Dubrovnik but when we passed through today it was absolutely mobbed and I’m still not happy to spend hours in the midst of huge crowds so we’ve decided to spend our last day here in Lapad instead.
We made a bit of an error of judgement today, having been told that we could use our data allowances here in Croatia without incurring any extra charges. We hadn’t realised that as Bosnia and Herzegovina aren’t part of the EU the use of data there incurs huge extra charges. Thankfully we had set a cap of £15 on our monthly bills (we usually only pay around £10 a month for our contracts) so we both got a warning text telling us that we were nearly at our cap, having only been in the country for about half an hour! It would have cost us £12.50 per MB! As we almost reached our spending cap without so much as opening a web page we quickly turned off our data roaming! Lesson learned….always check!
