Italy - Aosta Valley

Italy today!
We set off late morning and we stood about 1 hour waiting to get through the tunnel.
The border is in the middle of the tunnel - under the Mont Blanc.
We drove in in France and wee came out in the beautiful Aosta Valley - which feels totally different to the French side of the Alps.
It was drier, different vegetation - different feel.

We took accidentally the motorway towards Aosta and spent most of the time in tunnels - again.
Once we reached the end we decided to drive up the mountains to find a restaurant for a late lunch.
We were not super successful, as everything was closed. The villages felt eerie - no people, no animals - no soul was around ..... very strange ....
We decided to drive into Aosta instead which is quite a huge city and the capital of this area.

Here are loads of roman remains, like aqueducts, bridges, towers, walls and so on.
It is a beautiful area and a beautiful city.
We had coffee at the main square where accidentially the graduation ceremony was held - so we got a bit of proper cultural life while we sat there.
Then we wandered the main street - had ice cream and looked at shops.
Next challenge was to choose a restaurant for dinner before we drive home.

As usual that took forever and we kept walking up and down .... thinking people in the street cafés must know us already :)

We finally decided on a place and had some lovely pizza and pasta and an amazing antipasti board to start with.

On the way to the car we got another ice cream and then hit the road home.

I was glad when we reached Saint Gervais again as the driving was tiring and I felt truly "curved-out".

We fell onto the couch and I fell asleep directly there.

Tomorrow is our last day and we have little plans ...
