An ordinary life....

Back to the future...

Finally took time to take a photo of the back of the house now that the roofing and stone work is finished.

I am so glad Tommy the roofer persuaded us to let him remove the masonry paint from the coping stones and the quoins round the windows, returning them to sandstone and restoring the exterior of the house to how it would have looked when it was built in 1900.  Well closer to how it would have looked as I suspect the walls were not cream but the shade of the harling, which may have been off-white or grey.

When the house was built the door in the central part (just peeking out the right side of the tree) was the front door. The house sat in a massive plot but previous owners sold off the bottom of the garden and two houses were built on the sold off land.  A wall was built along what is now the bottom of the garden to separate this house from the new houses, effectively turning this into the back of the house.  When people visit us for the first time they are slightly confused by the position of what is now the front door, but it all makes sense when they see the original front back :-)))

Fairly productive day today after a slow start.  Shoulder is still grumbling away to itself but better than it was yesterday and way better than it was on Saturday morning, so I am relieved things are going in the right direction.

Completed the warm up exercises for this week's drawing course.  Ink and watercolour (just one colour - lamp black) Will start the drawing part of the exercise tomorrow.  It's a rusty old car, not a subject I would think of tackling but I am looking forward to it.  Way out of my comfort zone.

Late afternoon I recorded a brief crochet tutorial for Blip pal Withers, to demonstrate a stitch new to her.  David was very helpful in the making of that, especially his final motivational observation!  Hahahahaha....least said the better!

David was out this evening at his singing rehearsal and I finally spent a decent amount of time crocheting Nikki's bed throw.  At this rate it will be finished by Christmas....2027!
