Warm gift on a cold day

My good friend called and asked me to come and open the door. (She always calls by phone knowing that I do not hear the knock.)
Look at what she brought me! A pair of woollen mittens and a bag full of just picked sweet plums. :-)
She was on her way to the doctor with her knee for the umpteenth time these past months. I understand that the decision on the operation was made today.

It is below freezing during the night.
