Banksia

There are many species of Banksia hence they come in a range of shapes, sizes and colours, this one in our yard at the farm being a Giant Candle.
I’m a veterinarian not a horticulturalist so all I can tell you is that they are Australian natives in the Protea family.
We planted them a few years ago and until recently we regarded them as a failure but, without any assistance from either of us, they have made peace with their location and seem to be enjoying life.
