Joyful Birthday

I thought about brushing aside blipfotos's rules to share with you my favorite image of my Father. But I just realized that the image was just a reason to tell a story about him. And there are no rules sacred enough to stop even a partially-irish lad from telling a story.
The man's got a connection with ladders. I dont just mean he owns and works near a varied and large collection of ladders. But, I also don't just mean he's a Man and feels a connection to his tools, though he does.
A master cabinetmaker shared with me the saying "when you steal a man tool, you are stealing from him multiple times. Once, the cost of the tool, it's cost to replace. And again for the amount of any work he could not perform buy food and shelter and care for his family."
So with that, i think every man feels a connection to his tools.
But I think there is one more reason he keeps so close to ladders. The man can not say no to lending a helping hand. No matter how big the request, Tom has a connection to a ladder safe enough and tall enough to reach it, and stand back. He will also climb it for you if he can.
He'll just want you to be there, both feet firm, to put a helping hand at the bottom.
