Autumn garden
A day of rest, recovering from our Lancashire trip and preparing for a busy weekend ahead. Most of the garden has now recovered from the drought, though I fear we may have lost several trees and bushes. The patio beds look particularly cheerful, with the warm colours of sunflowers, pot marigolds, chrysanthemums and Common Rue - a Mediterranean species that has thrived this year. Further down the garden the colours are cooler, and include white Japanese Anemone, which is much shorter than usual, and the emerging mauves and purples of Michaelmas daisies.
