Glimpses of Me

For King and Country

Greater love hath no man than this...

I'm beginning to see a pattern here..
I might have started a series "May Memorials and Monuments"

(Do let me know if this sounds quite boring..)

It came to mind when another blipper Cabbagetree commented on my shot yesterday about a theme.. Hope I finish it off for the whole month of May..

This Swinton War Memorial was built in honour of the citizens of Swinton who gave their lives in both wars:
- the Great War of 1914-1918; and
- the Second World War of 1939-1945

Roll of Honour

It was unveiled on 11th of Sept 1921 by the Earl Fitzwilliam of Ireland.

Truly, no greater love hath no man than this,
to give one's own life for friends..

P.S.
Yey! Our chimney finally got sorted out! And in just the nick of time! Apparently, as the builder pointed out to us, the bricks were already falling apart. It would all have collapsed in -- who knows..
