Welcome warmth

We’ve had this wood burning stove for several years – it was mainly bought as a backup source of heating to give us peace of mind. We haven’t actually used it much in the past couple of years because when the central heating is on it seems a bit wasteful if we are only in this room during the evening.

Now that we are trying to delay firing up the central heating for as long as possible (for obvious reasons), Smithers decided that it’s time to put the stove properly through its paces. It didn’t take long when he lit it for the logs to start burning, and we are leaving the room door open so that we can see the flames every time we pass by. The lit stove is a very welcoming and comforting sight, and hopefully it will help warm up the ground floor a little bit too.

The only problem is, we are bound to find it hard after watching television during the evening in this room to tear ourselves away and brave the much colder air in our bedroom!
