Thou shall have a fishy

Here’s a thing.

The shout went up for me and my camera today…

‘heron in the car park’

I duly grabbed the camera and tiptoed out the door. There he was straight in front of me.

I snapped a couple and then thought I’d move down and approach him from behind.

He was engrossed. Was not sure what with but I was able to get quite close. Then he turned… and there hanging out of his mouth was a mousey.

I have never seen a heron catch and eat a mouse before… I thought they did fishies.

I fired the photo up to my boss who was amazed. Couldn’t believe it and turned to look in the car park just in case.

And don’t you know… the flipping heron caught another one and ate it again
