Ivy

Ivy flowers are starting to bloom , which means they’re alive with hoverflies, wasps, occasional butterflies and other insects.

The hedge at the side of the old bowling greens in the park is a bit of a sun trap, and thankfully is left to grow quite wild, making a good place to visit for a wildlife ancounter.

I think this is one of the Eristalis species of hoverflies.
