Shining Mud
First of all, thanks so much for all your lovely comments yesterday, yes, it was hard to leave, and yes, so grateful I could be there for the start of Eden's life. And please forgive lack of response to you all...
A day filled with beauty, but have chosen the first one I took today, of the shining mud outside Aeromar (our regular little hotel near the airport).
We then drove to Olhão, just east along the coast, and got a ferry out to Culatra Island, one of the sand bars protecting the Ria Formosa (which you see in this photo) from the sea. Wandered round the small town there, and then walked across the island and to the other end along a gorgeous beach, to Farol, where there is a cluster of holiday homes around the lighthouse, where we got on the ferry back to the mainland.
This doesn´t include the detour on some so called path which ended in deep water from the incoming tide, less said about that the better...
Gratefuls:
- being back with Mike; we´ve talked a lot
- the total privilege of easily accessing so much beauty
- being back in the land of reasonable prices: a lunch of tuna steak covered in grilled veggies with (homemade) chips and salad, plus (good) bread and garlicky carrots for starters, and generous portions of white wine - for 17, 30 euros for both of us. And 1.90 each for the ferry.
