Nefertiti
Today we went to the Visions of Ancient Egypt exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich. A fascinating exhibition covering the Egyptian influence on art from the Roman era up to the present day. We joined the free guided tour of the exhibition which W quite enjoyed but for me was a mistake; whilst the guide was undoubtedly knowledgeable, being part of a group meant the others got in the way of seeing the artefacts on show and listening to the guide meant I couldn't read the excellent information boards by the exhibits. For me, she didn't add anything I couldn't have read on the display signs. Our tickets entitled us to revisit the exhibition through the day so we went for lunch in the cafe and then went round once again at our own pace.
Some fascinating things on display; artworks, photographs from the Tutenkhamun excavation, and a wonderful Giacometti sculpture. This made the best blip shot though; a neon artwork of Nefertiti owned by the Sainsbury Centre. The guide said that the Centre would love to use it in another exhibition but they weren't quite sure what it might be!
