Nikon D5000 - Holy Crap

Last Sunday I graduated college. With the money I had been saving up combined with some graduation gift money I was able to purchase my first DSLR camera. I went with the new Nikon D5000.

I first consulted Naked, El Lobo, and 'I got a motorcycle and now I have no time for pictures.' They all provided me with lots of great info about what to look for... and in the end it was determined that any SLR is a good SLR.

I was looking at the D40, D60, and D80 and thennnn I stumbled upon the D5000. I was really digging the flip screen. I move around a lot and the fact that I could protect the screen was awesome. It also lets you take pictures in weird positions... positions which would otherwise restrict you from looking through the view finder.

I also liked the fact that it could record 'hd' video. I havent tested it out yet but I am not expecting anything too 'hd.' But I do hope that the quality is decent enough to make some simple home productions.

So far, I love it. The camera truthfully scares the crap out of me because there are so many buttons compared to my previous point and shoot. I have so much to learn and can't wait to learn it all!

Stay Tuned. It's gonna get fun!
