A ride and a walk
One of the former neighbors of my Mom and Dad has bees and she said on her Facebook page they just jarred the last of the honey for the summer so I contacted her to get a jar. Local honey is the best for you and I know hers had minimal processing. Anyway, she had moved about 45 minutes from here so on the way to her house (a new route I had not traveled before) I noticed this little white church. New Hope Methodist established in 1795 with this building being erected in 1901. I love the little white churches.
Since we were close to one of our favorite hiking trails we decided to go to walk. We have some cloud cover from Hurricane Ian plus the temperature is perfect for hiking at 72F. The Broad River here was down low due to lack of rain (which may change as Ian moves closer) and we could see the greenery growing in the shallow water.
But there were turtles!! I counted 30 total but some were swimming around also. Normally we do not see the rocks or these tree limbs. These are fresh water soft shell turtles and Jerry said that they could be eaten...NO, I don't think so.
I was in contact with my uncle and my friend Sandy at lunchtime today before the worst of the storm hit. It is hammering them now with buckets of rain and 100mph winds. Keep those prayers going for the people of Florida. We are expecting much rain and some wind from Hurricane Ian beginning on Friday but who knows. It might just go right back out to the ocean or die out over Georgia. But we really do need some rain.
I will be looking at the Tiny Tuesday entries tomorrow.
