Not A Happy Chappy
This greenfinch caught my attention when I was putting out the recycling this morning. I had paused on the path to look at yesterday's angel and it landed on the seed feeder only a few feet away from me. It was unperturbed that I was standing there. I slowly turned and went back into the house.
Its feathers were puffed up making it look like a round ball. I took shots from the kitchen window as it stayed for a long time looking sleepy.
Apparently, a lot of greenfinches are succumbing to trichomonas gallinae, a parasite that doesn't affect humans or animals. Chaffinches are also prone to this killer infestation.
We'll have to keep the feeders very clean.
