Oh Happy Day!
The sun has returned! And what a difference that has made! An amazing sunrise in the east (main) and its refection in the west! (extra). Calm water and relatively warm sunshine after days of rain and cold..with the temperature dropping to 1 degree Celsius last night.. Despite a frost alert, none was evident! But..the cold temperatures resulted in a magical mist that rose from the water this morning...making it an almost dream-like sunrise...
There has been a noticeable lack of wildlife over the last few dreary, cold and wet days, but today the island came to life again; the birds returned to the feeders, geese flew overhead, and our resident beaver swam by...everyone and everything happy to see that sun again...
And..I was feeling so much better...more like my old self..those puffers and pills must have helped. And then to have a day to sit on the dock and read, to sit in the sun by the water and soak up some warmth..perfect!
My daughter and SIL left for town this afternoon to stay on their boat at the marina for a couple of days. They have a lot of work to do on it before hauling it out and storing it for the winter.
Before they left, they cut down and burned two small dead pine trees that had to come down before winter, which meant some pleasant time for me spent sitting in the sun by the fire, recalling memories of my childhood toasting marshmallows over a campfire just like that one..on that very shoreline.. This has been our family cottage since the early 1950's..so it holds a lot of fond memories..
Fingers crossed for some more lovely, sunny but cool autumn weather.
PS: the last few days have been back-blipped..I think I am finally caught up! At least with posting!
