Russian Orthodox Church, Tallinn, Estonia

We headed over on the Tallinn Shuttle from Helsinki to Tallinn early this morning. Beautiful calm sea, a two hour trip on quite a fancy cruise ship. Makes our interislander ferry look crass! We had a map and print out of a walking tour, so self guided our way through the city over several hours. It is small but a beautiful old an historic town, complete with wall.

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built in 1900 over the supposed grave of a legendary Estonian hero-Kalevipoeg. While it's a beautiful building, most Estonians don't like this church. Built to face the national parliament, it was a crass attempt to flex Russian cultural muscles during a period of Estonian national revival.

There was a sign up inside this church saying no photos, but the Mistress sneakily took photos anyway. Wide angle lenses are good for that!

The Mistress managed to cut herself somehow this morning and bled all over me. Sigh. Always something! Dropped, nearly dropped, bled over + what on earth next?
