It just so happened
that I was walking back from yet another Architecture in New Zealand field trip when I saw this house. Our class visited the Sir Miles Warren exhibition at the art gallery this morning. It was rather illuminating. Warren's modernist buildings are very distinctive and it was a pleasant surprise to find that he had designed several other buildings that I admired... although this can't be said for the New Zealand Embassy building in Washington, D.C.... that building is not quite right, I'm afraid.
Anyway! I was just leaving the gallery when I found this building...
I love the gable window and the door just below that could be a safety hazard. I especially love how this wing is lifted off the ground by pencil-shaped columns. I wish I could put more pictures of it on Blip, but I 'spose I'll have to do that day by day!
I don't know who designed this house, but it is certainly reminiscent of Sir Warren.
There! No one can accuse me of not paying attention in class!
