Acres of fen
This was definitely the theme for today - scanning a vast tract of reedbed for exciting birds at RSPB Lakenheath Fen. This is an amazing place - a square mile of reed fen and wet woodland created from arable fields over the last 15 years. I saw birds like Bittern, Marsh Harrier, Hobby and Cetti's Warbler. Sadly, the Cranes did not put in an appearance and the Golden Orioles don't seem to have returned to breed yet. Sorry no photos of the amazing birds, but iDID spend most of my time looking at reeds!
