Theatre royal stage

Here I am in the theatre royal in Plymouth again to see The Colour Purple, except since it is an American book it is spelt Color! I read the book when I was doing a literature course at the Open University and it was fascinating to see it reworked through music for the stage! Very spare staging and really great singing and dancing! Lots of themes including female repression and black repression, sexuality issues and family issues and ultimately about the triumph of love! Joyful!
