Bird morning

We are staying at a B and B ( the Old Mill Inn) outside of Asheville. I had a panic attack when we were getting here worrying about the weather and  the fact that it was ( surprise ) on a very windy dirt road. The road is not fun to drive but the Inn is wonderful. The owners have wonderful flower beds, bird feeders and a boardwalk through the marshy back area of the property. And a pond formed by a dammed creek that occasionally gets a visit from river otters! Haven't seen one  of those but I walked out the door this AM and saw a blackburnian warbler. That was followed by a phoebe , multiple carolina chickadees, a redstart, 3 rose breasted grosbeaks and a Tennessee warbler. The owner suggested we walk up the road as she had seen a cuckoo, which Glenn spotted. I found 2 black throated greens, a couple of black throated blue warblers and pine and prairie warblers! It's the southward migration hitting the Carolinas! Who knew!!! This place is great! ( And breakfast was amazing )
Spent the afternoon at the Arboretum and it started to rain just after we left. Great timing. Looks like we missed the Great Smokies NP but also the worst of  Hurricane Ian. Going to try for the Outer Banks tomorrow as the rain should have stopped by then here and there hopefully.
