Mallard Hen

Today’s blip marks the completion of my ninth month with Blipfoto, as I continue with my first attempt to complete a daily 365 photo challenge.

I went to my local park to visit the ducks about one half hour before sunset. Most of them were already settled down to sleep, but this Mallard hen (Anas platyrhynchos) was still wide awake. Perhaps it was her turn for sentry duty to protect the flock. There were quite a few more birds on the river bank today. I suppose that they are gathering together in preparation for the migration.
