Gum blossom

This has to be one of my favourite flowering plants of all time.  There’s a little cafe in the Stirling Ranges just north of Albany that has two magnificent specimens on show at the moment.  We arrived just in time to order a coffee and dare I say it a piece of carrot cake for me before the owners were having to make a mercy dash into Albany for bread.  Turns out they’d run out and how on earth would they be able to make “Toasties” for the intrepid hikers if they didn’t have bread.  They very kindly let us sit out at one of the tables to drink our coffee as they buzzed off.  the only condition was that we lock the gate behind us when we were finished.  Now how good is that!!
