View from the lounge this morning

All packed up and away by 9.0am and having a splendid breakfast at the Lingholme Kitchen by 9.30. This view is of the clouds and Catbells.

We had one more call to make on friends who live near Grange over Sands who we haven’t seen for a couple of years. A couple of hours chinwagging, then over to Kendal for fuel and on to Kirkby Longsdale for a late lunch.

Disappointed to find the cafe at Lunesdale Bakery shut again so went next door to No 44 and had a very good meal there. It was 5.00pm before we set off on the 5 hour drive south.

I checked to satnav and when I looked I thought it was sending us down the M6, without thinking we followed instructions and ended up going cross country through Bradford to pick up M62 then A1M. We’re now 168 miles from home at 19.30 with an eta of 22.14 which, surprisingly, was the same time as if we had taken the M6. Memo to self, check satnav more carefully.

We’ve had a wonderful week, thanks for all your comments. All being well, we’ll be back up next March.

Edit: arrived back at 22.40, additional time caused by comfort break and all traffic coming to a halt on M11 for 10 minutes for no explicable reason.
