These shoes are placed here as a reminder of the crucial role Queen Victoria and the British Empire had on Canada's role in the negotiation of treaties, Residential Schools and other systems which dispossessed indigenous peoples.  (As of date over 10,000 unmarked graves surround the Residential Schools in Canada).
