Lack of trusst

In Lindi this morning we managed to secure about 5 and a half minutes with the Regional Administrative Secretary, 5 minutes of which were spent signing the guestbook. We did then have a deeper conversation with another bod from the regional government office, discussing issues relating to elephants, agriculture and forest connectivity. Then we had to find a place to join the weekly all-team call, so we opted for the poolside of a random hotel in Lindi town.

On the journey back towards Dar es Salaam, I noted that lots of passenger buses we passed bore the words maning nice. Maningue nice is regular slang in Mozambique, meaning ‘very nice’. East African linguistic connections.

We went to the coastal town of Kilwa, which has a small office hosting some of our staff. It was relaxing to head for the beach at Kilwa at sunset to sip on a watermelon juice at the end of a long day of meetings and travel.
