Light of the Iris

Dead tired tonight, so will catch up on comments later. Prize woke me at 3:30 this morning. I rolled out of bed and looked out the front window, but did not see anything. However, Prize kept signaling a sound at the door. I put my hearing aids in and walked onto the deck which overlooks a wooded area. I heard high pitched screaming that sent shivers down my spine; it lasted 1-2 minutes. I suspect a coyote caught a small animal in the woods. After hearing the sound of death, I could not return to sleep. I have felt lethargic all day though managed to get out for a 5 mile hike.
