(not) a Shure thing
We decided to put our concert on in the afternoon, instead of the evening as is more usual. Apparently it’s a thing these days among musicians of a certain age - and their audiences. The idea is that we play for a couple of hours then get home in time for The Antiques Roadshow. (Which is probably a good name for us, now I think about it).
That’s the idea anyway. It does not go according to plan.
There are problems with the venue and the PA system dies on us. The audience patiently wait outside while we try to sort it. We fail to do so.
With about 5 minutes to show-time, we finally let them in and explain what’s happened. We then offer them a journey back to the dingy acoustic clubs of the 1960s. They accept.
In the end everyone agrees they’ve had a good time and they go home happy. As for my guitar solo, given the fact that there was no power for the volume pedal, no one heard it except me. Which was just as well.
