Marathon Mel

An epic day in London supporting the brilliant Marathon Mel in her debut marathon. Mel only entered the ballot because everyone else had and got quite the shock when she actually got a place. It's been so wonderful to be a part of her marathon journey, ending in the most wonderful day of cheering her around.

The non-runners of the day started off with coffee and croissants before making our way to Tower Bridge. We got to see some of the wheelchair racers and the elites before the masses poured through. What an incredible experience it was to be at the London Marathon as a spectator. We saw a couple of our other running friends before finally spotting Mel. She was joyous at mile 12 and joyous she remained! We spotted her again at about mile 22 and her husband Steve and some other friends were positioned at other points. The London Marathon doubtless brings out the best in people, both runners and spectators and it was truly a day for restoring faith in humanity.

Thanks to Tim for appearing and being our official photographer for the day.

The only downside of the day was 42,000 runners plus all of their families and friends trying to get out of the city at the end of the day.
