The colour purple

As an ice breaker a few years ago the trainer asked everyone what colour was their favourite. I said purple but when asked I could not think why.

I have since realised that the first flowers to bloom in my garden are all purple. Normally the Pulmonaria are all finished by the time the primula emerge but this has been a very strange spring and both are in flower now.

I've photographed the primula because I love the clarity of the colour on this plant. It might be that the 30mm of rain yesterday has scrubbed a lot of the pollutants out of the atmosphere but the sky is clear and the air is sweet. The down side of the rain is that the ground is too wet to work today, so housework wins again.
