Starting a new project, yet again

The last project was to replace raised beds with a new flower bed. This bed was not a success but, since the weather has started to behave itself the plants have flourished. 
When the bed was completed the area known as the Graveyard seemed to stand out as no longer being appropriate in the overall scheme. The Graveyard was an area for growing vegetables but was too dry to be too successful. We called it the Graveyard because, with the picket fence surrounding it and the large plant markers, it looked like a graveyard in those old Western films, like Boot Hill or those Spaghetti Westerns.
We are going to remove the fencing and cover the ground with weed suppressing fabric and more slate before planting up with perennials and scrubs. I have some idea about having a pond or wet area incorporated into the scheme but these need refining.
