Oranmore Castle
After breakfast, we went to investigate the nearest Lidl, on the edge of Oranmore. We had driven past it many times en route to other places.
It was large, and quite well stocked, though their choice of gin was limited, and they only had one type of oat milk, which was expensive. But they did have pretzels, so that was lunch sorted. They didn't have blades to fit W's razor. So we then had to drive into Oranmore to a pharmacy.
After that, W thought we were going home, but I had other plans, and diverted down to the shore. Here, I went for a little wander. And as seems inevitable, and lovely, the only other person on the shore fell into conversation. So friendly and welcoming.
Oranmore Castle appears to be in private ownership, though it seems there are functions, and guided tours - something for next summer perhaps.
After pretzels for lunch, I did a little sewing, and then our landlady called to help us sort out the heating, and found the instructions for the dishwasher and other kitchen equipment, which had been tucked away in a high "press" - the Irish term for a cupboard.
As M was leaving, her husband was also there, collecting his trailer, and he stopped for a chat, and to check all was ok. He has arranged for an electrician to call round to deal with a faulty switch. We are very fortunate to have found this rental - ideal as they didn't insist on a long term commitment - and with friendly and approachable landlords.
