Possessions

Maybe some of these material possessions are less important than we think they are.

My turntable has accompanied me through my many moves over the past 30 years. It had priority (along with the accompanying vinyl dating back 50 years) over most other material possessions.

Still in occasional use, it has languished in my office for the past few years, waiting for a more suitable location.

There is something quite magical about the LP12. It’s not just a record player, it opens another dimension of enjoyment and emotional involvement from the music it plays. Previously ignored, or even disliked music becomes engaging and appreciated on a new level.

But, it's hard to justify keeping it when right now its monetary value is probably more important. So it’s on its way now to a new owner. Perhaps, when the time is right, I’ll replace it. In the meantime, I’ll find a cheaper alternative.
