HWP: completed passport
Thank you to everyone who read about my trepid adventure, on which I embarked with intrepidation. Thank you for all your words of encouragement and for your compliments on my writing. Thank you for reading it all and being a wonderful and appreciative audience.
We started the Hadrian's Wall Path on 2 September 2022 and finished on 8 September 2022, which is seven days walking in total. To summarise, it was fine in the west, terrifying in the middle and wet in the east. At various points along the way, I mentioned stamping our passports; the photo shows my completed passport with authentic Northumbrian-rain-soaked corners. I thought you might like to see it (although I did post it as an extra on the last day).
The day after we finished, we got the bus to my sister's: it would've been rude not to, given where she lives. After the first home-brewed cup of tea in ages and a catch-up, she drove us to our mam's house because she's lovely like that (we saw Penshaw Monument). She stayed for a cup of tea and a catch-up, then went home again. We stayed over at my mam's, then she and my brother gave us a lift to Durham train station in the morning. It would've been nice to stay a bit longer, but there was a cat to pick up from the cattery.
Let's just say that that cat, Mr Perkins, was displeased about being abandoned in the cattery. He's been very clingy since we collected him yesterday.
Normal life resumes again, except that my legs are very stiff, and if I sit or lie down for too long a period, they seize up, and I must hobble until they loosen up. As for the stairs, I'm glad the bannister is firmly attached!
