Fruits of the forest

 
We have a bumper crop of crab apples this year. Normally they are left for the birds but on the advise of friends I am going to try and use them.
 
Des anyone have a recommendation for a foolproof recipe? I have had a look online and some of those look tricky to me.
 
I guess there is going to be a lot of activity in the kitchen in the weeks ahead. Hope M shares my enthusiasm.
 
PS. Re Covid. Another friend has gone down with it. I have  (touch wood) recovered. Its not a case of "if you get Covid" but rather " when you get it".
