Pinhole schminhole

So this is a picture of an image from a pinhole camera projected on to tracing paper. It's a picture taken out of our living room window. After much faffing about I managed to get something and then pushed the exposure in Lightroom a bit, as it was very dark.

Daughter: "Oh, so is that picture embedded on the tracing paper?"

Me: "No, of course not, because it's not photographic paper."

D: "So what's the point? If you want a picture from the living room why not just use your camera?"

Me: "Because... this, it's photography at its earliest, the beginnings of.... people spend a fortune on programs to achieve an effect like this.. "

D: "But you're using your camera to take the picture anyway."

Me: *throws hands up in despair*
