The Iron Curtain...

...which was far more literal than I'd been lead to believe.

Ryan and Sophie took us on a walk to a section of the Danube where the Iron Curtain separated communist Slovakia from Austria. It's a daunting place to say the least. Slovakian's would try to swim the icy Danube to a free life across the river border....either drowning, being carried away by the immense current or being caught and shot. A monument to the firing squad's wall had been erected.....

It's got me into reading about the wars again...which is thoroughly depressing!

I thought the cold, empty, rustic, metal heart on top of this section of the curtain was quite fitting!
