What is this?

I am quite sure one of you amazingly clever blippers will know the name of this interesting plant. I'm relying on you! I don't have a clue what it is but it's beginning to look quite dramatic in our front garden!

It has been a lovely day here today. It's just a pity I have been doing some fairly unlovely things!!! Still, tomorrow is another day!
