Our new bundle of joy.....

Welcome Rufus to our home.

My wife and I have never had children. Our kitties have always been our children, and we have always had three or four at any given time. All have been rescue kitties, and all have been dearly loved.

Winston died two years ago after 21 years of friendship, leaving us with Reffy, Otis, and Luther.

Two months ago Reffy passed on from kidney failure, after bringing us so much joy for 17 years.

Two weeks ago Otis finally succumbed to the cancer that had tormented him for 14 months. Initially the Dr gave him 6 months and he made it 14 months. She called him the miracle kitty. He was 16 years old. This one was my wifes shadow and they loved each other with a bond that is hard to describe. She has been devastated.

This left only Luther and it was the first time he has been alone in his nine years, and the first time in 20 some years we have only had one kitty.

That was remedied today when we went to the Humane Society and adopted Rufus! He is eight weeks old, and a ball of fire!! Luther is still unsure of him, but in a fascinated way, not a mean or combative way, so I think that will work itself out just fine.

My wife has that spark back in her eye that she lost with the passing of Otis, and hopefully we will be able to give Rufus a long and loving life!!

Sorry for the extended post, but sometimes it does the heart good to talk about it.....
